Discretionary Hotel Sick Pay

In addition to any entitlement to Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) the Company will pay Company Sick Pay to the Employee when he/she is away due to sickness, provided that in the first instance he/she informs the Hotel immediately, or as soon as is reasonably practicable, of his/her absence, but no later than two hours prior to the start of his/her shift. He/she is required to keep his/her Head of Department regularly informed of progress whilst absent.

The Company Sick Pay payment he/she will receive will be the difference between the benefit that he/she will receive under the Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) scheme and the entitlement to a proportion of his/her basic pay he/she may be entitled to as set out below.

Entitlement

Any unusual, over frequent or prolonged absence not supported by evidence of sickness could lead to disciplinary action being taken against the Employee notwithstanding that the above entitlement may not be exhausted.

The Company reserves the right to request a Doctor’s certificate for any period of sickness after 7 days absence. The Employee may be required to see the Company Doctor. Cases of unjustified length or frequency will lead to disciplinary action including dismissal.
