Historical facts
The original roof covered only the ground floor. The roof was then changed to a higher floor to make the inside courtyard a grand ‘winter garden’, hence the name that has continued to remain.
In the fifties, the roof was completely removed by the British Railway who had taken over the building at the time and it was not until 1991 that it was put back on, as it is today.
