A 5 Star Hotel With History
If you are searching through 5 star hotels in London, you need look no further. The Landmark London Hotel is predicated on luxury and style as standard, providing all of the deluxe, modern amenities that you could ever want along with a selection of high class restaurants and bars. If you are travelling from abroad, another part of the country, or from within London itself, our Victorian era building will draw you in and our quality of service and dedication to your every need will be unsurpassed.
The building itself is located on Marylebone Road just north of the centre and of great architectural and historical interest. It was an original London Victorian era railway hotel which was designed to serve an international railway station whose line would be what is effectively now the Channel Tunnel. Unfortunately, that goal was a little over ambitious for the time, but what it did yield was this magnificent building which you now get to enjoy. It was sold by the Great Central Railway to Sir John Blundell Maple who opened it in 1899. It then endured a chequered history as declining railway passenger numbers made it difficult to run the hotel which eventually resulted in a 40 year gap in use. Of course, with 2 world wars in between, one might think it lucky to still be standing, but the building was used as a convalescent home during the second world war, and then as a military building thereafter. However, rising demand for opulent hotels in London saw what was then The Regent return to prominence and in 1995 it was bought out by its current owners, the Lancaster Landmark Hotel Company Ltd. This amazing building is now home to 300 rooms as well as the Winter Garden restaurant. Set into a magnificent atrium with eight storeys on each side and a glass roof, this area makes fantastic use of natural light, no matter the time of year. As one of the top London hotel restaurants, each meal is an event to behold, all served up by our impeccable staff. Our restaurant, which has two AA rosettes, is open throughout the day serving breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.
Breakfast in the Winter Garden is something that you won’t soon forget. It is the best way to start your day with an array of freshly baked Danish pastry as well as more traditional English breakfasts, omelettes and fresh fruit. It is served daily between 7 and 11:30 am. Lunch will start at 11:30 each day which is equally as diverse and beautifully prepared. Along with classically British foods, we will also serve dishes with both Mediterranean and Middle Eastern variations to taste.
With private alcoves around the Winter Garden, it is a great place to hold a business meeting and is the perfect place to discuss the issues of the day.
